The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in their first preseason matchup Monday night and suddenly it's become apparent that the right knee of Kobe Bryant(notes), which underwent surgery in late July for the third time since 2003, isn't fully ready for NBA action.

Once the February trading deadline passes in the NBA, New York Knicks center Eddy Curry(notes) is expected to be waived, according to New York Post. Unless some team takes him off the Knicks hands before then, of course.
The team has been trying to unload Curry for years in order to create salary-cap space for someone like, say, LeBron James(notes) last summer. Obviously, that didn't work out, but the Knicks are anxious to clear out Curry's salary to make room for someone like, say, Carmelo Anthony(notes) next summer.
